2012-06-25 This is it! Timi could celebrate her first singles victory in the main draw of a Grand Slam-tournament!

The 69th ranked player won a huge battle in Wimbledon against Melanie Oudin after the American had a break advantage in the final set.

THE CHAMPIONSHIPS (WIMBLEDON, GRAND SLAM COMPETITION, GRASS), WOMEN’S SINGLES, 1ST ROUND

Timea Babos (Hungarian)-Melanie Oudin (USA) 6:4, 4:6, 6:3

"Very, very nice! It is a mental victory, my game could have been even better. I served well, but I must improve the receiver game. I feel that I won, cause of good exercises from the last weeks and I gained much self-confidence from the match against Safarova in Eastbourne. Absolutely it was not an easy win. Oudin plays her best tennis on grass and she came to Wimbledon after a triumph"- said Tímea Babos.

Oudin ranked only 123rd, but only a week ago she won the AEGON Classic, in which she started in the qualifying. Timi also celebrated in Birmingham, she is the new champion in doubles with Hsieh Su-Wei.

The 19-year-old Hungarian player started perfectly, served and received very well, quickly pulled away 3:0. Oudin was almost not on the pitch for a long time she didn’t have a winner shot. Then she slowly “regrouped” herself and at 4:2 she took advantage from the second break point. At that time, it was a very balanced match.

Fortunately, Timi is not disturbed by the equalizer, at 5:4 again played very well as a receiver, immediately won the set ball and ended the 37-minute set, move one step closer to the second round.

The sequel remained balanced, but at 2:2 Oudin again broke her rival. Tímea Babos immediately had a chance to equalize, but it did not work. The American player fought to the end and won the 38-minute act.

In the beginning of the all-important third set Oudin again had an early break, but fortunately the equalizer came right away. The match was close, very close, the statistics show that. The battle decided at 4:3! In the last game Oudin saved the first match point at 40-30, but Timi took advantage of the second chance with another beautiful winner. So she reached the second round in Wimbledon.

The Hungarian player's next opponent will be Nadia Petrova, who in 67 minutes (6:0, 6:2) surpassed Elena Camerin. The Russian is now ranked 20th, but six years ago she was the 3rd. During her career she won 11 WTA tournaments in singles, and 20 times celebrated in doubles. In 2005 and 2008 she was quarterfinalist in Wimbledon.
