Roland Garros 2015: a great victory in Mixed Doubles

The match lasted 71 minutes. The Hungarian-Austrian duo’s opponent in the quarter-final will be the pair of Lucie Hradecka and Marcin Matkowski at the Roland Garros.

"It was an interesting day. With a lot of rain, but fortunately we clearly absolved the match. I enjoy the Mixed Doubles, Alex is a good partner. I am pleased that I broke the “curse” of the Court No 2, and I was able to win a match on it this year: I have a day off tomorrow, but I'm going to continue the preparation for the grass. Many fitness, tennis and workout, a little bit different from the clay court preparation"- said Timi.

In the 43-minute first set Timi and her partner twice had a lead of a break (4:2, 5:3), but both times the opponent clinging back. And the tie-break brought a new script.

Spears and Lipsky led 4-2 with a break, but Timi and Peya came back. But the American pair led again with a break (5-4). Fortunately the Hungarian-Austrian pair won two rally as a receiver, then they finished the set.

At the beginning of the second set, the American duo led 1:0, and they had a total of 4 break points after 0-40. But Timi and Peya saved the game, then they broke the rival.

This advantage has already been enough! At 5:3 the 7th seed pair broke again the opponent to 40, so they closed the match.

The Hungarian-Austrian duo's next opponent will be two true doubles specialist again.

The 30-year old Hradecka is currently ranked 28th, her career best was 4 (22 October 2012) as well. So far, she has won 18 WTA and 34 ITF women's doubles competition. She was a finalist 4 times in Women’s Doubles at a Grand Slam event, she celebrated twice with Andrea Hlavackova. The Czech duo was a champion at the Roland Garros (2011) and US Open (2013). Hradecka already won the Roland Garros (2013) in Mixed Doubles with Frantisek Cermak.

The 34-year old Marcin Matkowski is ranked 19th, his career best was 7 (9 July 2012). So far, he has won 16 ATP tournament. He was a finalist at the US Open in Men’s Doubles in 2011 with Mariusz Fyrstenberg, and in Mixed Doubles in 2012 with Kveta Peschke.
