2015-05-25 – The 11th seed Angelique Kerber won very smoothly, lost only one game against Timi in the opening round of the singles event at the French Open.

The match lasted 50 minutes.

FRENCH OPEN (PARIS, GRAND SLAM EVENT, CLAY), WOMEN’S SINGLES, 1ST ROUND

Angelique Kerber (German, 11)-Tímea Babos (Hungarian) 6:0, 6:1

"Kerber had a perfect day! It’s not accidental, that she is a top10 player for years. I think there was no realistic chance today against Kerber. But it was not so smooth, what the result suggest. It was a difficult draw, a dominating opponent. And my performance was only mediocre. I’m sorry” – said Timi.

In the 27-minute first set, Kerber won her opponent's serve immediately (to 0), then steadily increase the lead. The 27-year old German player’s performance was constant, while Timi had mistakes before and after good shots. The Hungarian player tried to surprise Kerber with a variety of ways, but without bigger success ...

Kerber broke to 40 twice, after 2:0 and 4:0. Then she won the sixth game to40, saving a break point.

The former Wimbledon semifinalist began the second set with another break, then she jumped to a 2:0 lead. After that Timi won her only game (to 15), then she led 40-0 at 3:1. But she couldn’t hold that service game, and it finished virtually the match.

In the last game, after 5:1 Kerber broke her opponent to 15. So the 11th seed easily finished the match.

On Monday afternoon, the draw was made for Mixed Doubles: Timi and Alexander Peya was seeded 7th. The Hungarian-Austrian pair will meet Arantxa Parra Santonja and David Marrero in the opening round.

This year she won in Antwerp (Belgium, 731 000 USD, carpet, Co: Anabel Medina Garrigues). Last year she was a quarter-finalist in women's doubles at Roland Garros (Co: Marina Erakovic).
