US Open 2013 : Timi and Schiavone advanced in doubles

The Hungarian-Italian duo defeated in 1 hour 19 minutes Oksana Kalashnikova and Alicja Rosolska . The next opponent will be the 6th seed Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Kveta Peschke (German, Czech).

"I enjoyed the match today and I'm happy to finally that I won a doubles match on a Grand Slam tournament! I always liked Schiavone, but after todays game she became my favourite! She encouraged me , we could work well together ! After the match I went to the gym , but now that's all for today :)" - Timi said happily .

Timi is ranked 60th, Schiavone 130th in the last doubles world rankings , while Kalashnikova is 53rd and Rosolska 45h. The Hungarian-Italian duo appeared together for the first time , while their opponents recently have had many successes together.

Kalashnikova and Rosolska are real doubles specialists, and they started well, immediately , winning the rival 's serve . But this was their last break int he whole match…Timi and the 2010 Roland Garros singles champion immediately equalized , and then a huge battle emerged.

In the 48- minute first set after 1:1 no one could have even reached a break point, so the tie-break decided. It was also tight, but in the end Timi and her partner were calmer.

The second set was surprisingly one-sided! The Georgian -Polish duo won easily the first game, but then fortunately Timi and Schiavone won five games in a row! Kalashnikova and Rosolska saved a match point at 5:1, but they only delayed the opponent 's success. In the next game Timi and Francesca Schiavone smoothly served off the match and reached the secound round of the US Open.

The Hungarian-Italian duo's next opponent will be Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Kveta Peschke (German, Czech, 6).

The 28- year-old Groenefeld is currently 12th in doubles rankings, her career best was 7th in 06.03.2006. During her career she won 13 WTA tournaments in this genre, this season she celebrated once.

The German player was a finalist in 2005 in doubles at the US Open, but since she gone up two rounds at most. This year Groenefeld played in the final in Brisbane (Co: Kveta Peschke ), Nuremberg (Co : Peschke ), Toronto (Co : Peschke ) and Cincinnati (Co : Peschke ) and triumphed in Brussels (Co : Peschke ). She was also semifinalist in Doha (Co : Peschke ), Eastbourne (Co : Peschke ) and Wimbledon (Co : Peschke).

The 38- year-old Peschke currently is 10th in doubles, her his career best was the 1st place in 07.04.2011. During her career she won 25 WTA tournaments in this genre, this season she celebrated once.

The Czech player and the Slovenian Katarina Srebotnik won The Championships at Wimbledon in 2011. Peschke wice was a semifinalist at he US Open: in 2006 (Co: Francesca Schiavone ) and 2007 (Co : Rennae Subbs ).
