US Open 2013: Grand Slam winner will partner Timi in doubles

The Hungarian and Luxembourgish player celebrated great success, they are in the 23rd position in this year’s points ranking, but they wont’ play together in the US Open.

Timi’s partner in New York will be Francesca Schiavone.

"I am very pleased to be able to play with such a big tennis player. Honored as Francesca may be many people's idol. Besides a nice girl, I hope we understand each other on the field and our double will be successfull"- said Timea Babos.

The Hungarian tennis player last Saturday with Michaella Krajicek won the 125 000 USD Suzhou tournament, it was Timi’s fourth doubles title this year. Thus, now she’s 58th ranked.

The 33-year-old Italian player won the singles in 2010 at the Roland Garros, and a year later was finalist. Her career best was in 31.01.2011., she was 4th.

Schiavone had achieved a great success also in doubles! Five years ago, with the Australian Casey Dellacqua she was finalist at Roland Garros, where they lost 6:2, 5:7, 4:6 against Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual. At the Australian Open (2009, Co: Casey Dellacqua), in Wimbledon (2012, Co: Flavia Pennetta) and at the US Open (2006, Co: Kveta Peschke) she reached the top four.

The highly experienced Italian was 8h in doubles ranking at 12.02.2007. Now she is 131st. She was a finalist in doubles 15 times in this genre, has won seven times: 2001 - Sopot (Co: Joannette Kruger), 2004 - Warsaw (Co: Silvia Farina Elia), 2005 - Doha (Co: Alicia Molik), 2006 - Dubai, Luxembourg Moscow (Co: Kveta Peschke), 2009 - Tokyo (Co: Alisa Kleybanova).

This year Schiavone has not yet achieved outstanding results in doubles, in her last three tournamens (Rome, Roland Garros, Wimbledon), Samantha Stosur was her  partner. The Italian-Australian duo in the Italian capital won one, in the French capital two games.
