London 2012: on Sunday two games waiting for Timi

The 19-year-old Hungarian player meets Galina Voskoboeva (WTA-ranking: 58.) at the Court 15 from 12:30 (Hungarian time). Timi won’t have time to rest, because she plays doubles on the same track’s 3rd game: with Ágnes Szávay she clashes with Czech Republic’s Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka.


On Friday night at the new Olympic Stadium was the Opening Ceremony, the three times gold medalist Péter Biros was the flag-bearer of the Hungarian delegation, behind him Timi walked in the first row. The young tennis player has played two years ago at the Singapore Youth Olympic Games, she was bronze medalist in doubles, in singles and she finished fourth place.

"Timi really enjoying to be here in London, happy to play in the Olympics. In the free time she makes friendship with other Hungarian athletes. Interestingly, the organization shows signs of failing, because there are lots of errors compared to the Grand Slam tournaments, but the playground is in good condition, although it the organizers don’t have a whole year to prepare the grass. The training ground is not in such a good situation. And I do not know, how the playgrounds will cope with so many games"- began the London report Timi's father and coach, Csaba Babos.

The Olympic tournament is unique, because follows the grass-track Grand Slam tournament, at the true bastion of the tennis in Wimbledon. But the atmosphere is much more relaxed now, however.

"Everyone is relieved, more open to the others, even those who had been most reluctant at a Grand Slam tournament. This is very good! It seems that everyone respects the other, that reached this stage"- said Csaba.

Few weeks ago Timi reached the second round in singles in Wimbledon and she now waits for the Olympic debut.

"Unfortunately, today, we have not seen Voskoboeva’s doubles match, just because we were able to go to training. We have very few opportunities to practice, half to three quarters of an hour a day. We used to prepare more. But now this is the reality, others also have few opportunities for training in London. We want to improve Timi’s returns, but now we should get the very best from this."
