2012-07-29 - By Sunday, the rain arrived again, so on the second day of the London Olympics tennis tournament only the matches played on the covered Center Court finished for a long time.

On the other courts only the first meetings were able to start, but all of them stopped. Tímea Babos (66th) led 6:4 against Galina Voskoboeva (58th) and after the break she won the second set 6:2, so she reached the last 32.

LONDON OLYMPICS (WIMBLEDON, GRASS), WOMEN’S SINGLES, 1ST ROUND

Timea Babos (Hungary)-Galina Voskoboeva (Kazakhstan) 6:4, 6:2

Saturday went without any major problems in the Wimbledon tournament, but on Sunday arrived in the usual English wet weather. Except the Center Court the program started with a three hour delay, but luckily it did not bother Tímea Babos.

The 19-year-old Hungarian tennis player began very well against the much more experienced Russian-born but nowadays Kazakh Voskoboeva. Timi broke opponent’s serve, then she was able to maintain the lead. The Olympic rookie served and returned very well, with few mistakes. She broke again at 3:1 and then led 5:1.

Voskoboeva then began to climb back with a little luck, and Timi couldn’t serve out the set. At least at that time. The Kazakh caught up to 5:4, but fortunately she had no chance to level. Timi won the next service game to 15, so after 44 minutes she led by a set! But then came the recent rain, forced another pause to the evening.

Then came the second act before 8 pm (Hungarian time). Timi paraded, at 1:1 she breaks again and hold own serves very easily. Data revealed that in the first three service games she not lost a single point.

At 4:2 the Hungarian player again break Voskoboeva, she step into to door of the next round. Then the Kazakh won the first point at Timi’s serve, but after the she never had a chance!

"Exceptionally It was good, that at last few days we were able to exercise less than usual. I really enjoyed myself on track, I relaxed and relieved tennis. The Olympics mood is good for me; we encourage each other, rooting for the other. The rain delay was good for me today, but not for so long ... My opponent played better at the end of the first set, but after the break the little bit slippery grass was favored me. Now I feel much better my game than a few weeks ago at Wimbledon’s Grand Slam tournament. The atmosphere also throws a lot and also helped me that I was able to prepare for two weeks at the United States. I played games that the pressure was much smaller than usual. That form gave a lot to my current game "- said Timi shortly after the first match.

The Hungarian player’s game ended at the same time then the Olympic final of Áron Szilágyi in sabre. Timi was delighted with the 22 year old’s triumph and she will seek the earliest opportunity to congratulate the fresh gold medalist.

Timi’s next opponent will be the Czech tennis player Petra Cetkovska or the semifinalist at Wimbledon, and now the seventh seed German Angelique Kerber.

"Timi played very well, she served very well, she had aggressive and long returns. It was an advantage, that her opponent did not move well. The track was slippery, Timi has adapted better all the time. In the past few days did not go very well with the returns, but today she had no problem with this. We practiced the second service, fortunately successfully. We well prepared in the morning, may be a great omen that we done this with Goerges. After that the German player won against the Wimbledon finalist and second seed Agnieszka Radwanska. Before the next match will seek the company of Goerges, because today’s practice was successful for Timi .Voskoboeva tried everything, but Timi had answer for everything”- said Csaba Babos.
