2012-07-30 There were no sensation in women's doubles at the London Olympics: fourth seed pair Andrea Hlavackova, Lucie Hradecka won in 1 hour and 52 minutes against Tímea Babos and Ágnes Szávay.

The Hungarian dual feat in any case, they can manage to “rob” a set against this year’s Wimbledon finalists.

LONDON OLYMPICS (WIMBLEDON, GRASS), WOMEN’S DOUBLES, 1ST ROUND

Andrea Hlavackova, Lucie Hradecka (Czech Republic, 4)-Tímea Babos, Ágnes Szávay(Hungary) 6:1, 6:7 (5-7), 6:2

Hlavackova turned pro in, she was at the singles quarter final in 2009 at the US Open, but she much more successful in doubles. Won 10 WTA tournaments, 7 times with Hradecka (2008: Prague, Bad Gastein, 2009 in Bad Gastein, 2010 in Brisbane, 2011: Paris - Roland Garros, 2012 in Auckland, Memphis). A few weeks ago Hlavackova and Hradecka lost the final against Verena and Venus Williams in the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament.

Hradecka was in the singles final of 4 WTA tournament, but never managed to win. Last year she won Roland Garros with Hlavackova and she has 13 WTA triumph in doubles.

It was clear that the very experienced Czech pair is much more favourite then the Hungarians, because Ágnes Szávay struggled for months with spinal injuries. After a long pause she just returned for the Olympics. The chances confirmed in Monday's first set, the Czechs broke the opponent early, then after few close games they won the set in 30 minutes.

The second set was much closer, though Czech’s next break seemed to decide the game, but Timi and partner – somewhat unexpectedly – broke in the middle of the second act, and won the close tie-break. In the third set re-emerged the routine of Hlavackova and Hradecka, after 2:2 they changed the rhythm of the game and after a closer battle than expected, finally, deservedly reached the second round.

"This was more than expected by Timi and Ágnes Szávay, winning the set was a real gift! In the first set, they still felt the lack of close-knit, and they respected the opponent too much. The Czech double played very well, Timi and Ágnes found them difficult to catch. In the second set they managed to surprise the enemy, I feel, that they played better in the tie-break. In the third set the Czechs get used to the opponent’s game, Timi and Ágnes found difficult to surprise. Anyway, the match had a great atmosphere, lots of Czech fans came out, they encouraged the opponent with flags, but fortunately, there were  many Hungarians. Ágnes played well, but we cannot complain at Timi. There were good things in the game that should keep for the future. Now, the question is not actual now, if they may play doubles together later, because firstly Ági should be in good form, she must start playing at tournaments. But it would be nice if it would be a good Hungarian duo. Before the doubles match I tried to crawl Kerber, against whom Cetkovska not played well. We will not be the favourites, Timi must play extremely well, to be even with the extremely aggressive German, who played well today. If it’s posible, Timi must serve better than against Voskoboeva, otherwise it will be very difficult game"- said Csaba Babos.
