2015-07-01- The five-time singles Champion and current World No1 Serena Williams won in two sets against Timi in the second round at Wimbledon.

The match lasted 60 minutes on the grass court Grand Slam tournament. The 22-year old Hungarian player will begin in Ladies’ Doubles with Kristina Mladenovic on Thursday against Magda Linette and Mandy Minella.

THE CHAMPIONSHIPS (WIMBLEDON, GRAND SLAM EVENT, GRASS), SINGLES, 2ND ROUND

Serena Williams (USA, 1)-Tímea Babos (Hungarian) 6:4, 6:1

"Serena played too good today! I think I can be positive with this match, I did a lot of good things. But her serves were still unstoppable ... In the second set, when I had a little chance, she hit three aces in a row. Then she started to play tennis against which no one can be a real response. Still, I enjoyed the match very much. I was glad for the opportunity. Of course, one eye crying, the other smiling ... With such a performance, I could have better result, but never mind"- said Timi.

The 33-year old American tennis legend won The Championships first time in 2002, when Timi only could dreamt, that one day she has a chance to play on the Center Court of the All England Club. And the Hungarian youngster’s dream came to a reality, after the victory against Petra Cetkovska. Although, last year Timi played on that historical court, at the Ladies’ Doubles final, but now it was different. She played with the five time singles Champion.

Serena Williams did not give a chance to Timi, although she played well in the 35-minute opening set. The American superstar broke her opponent in the first game, with the third opportunity, and later she hold that early lead. We saw a real “serve battle”, with many aces and unstoppable shots.

Timi has done everything in her service games, but she had no chance as a receiver. Serena Williams hits winners and she won the tenth game to 30, so she had a 1-0 set lead.

The second set was smoother. Serena Williams immediately broke her opponent, then she led 2:0. In the fourth game Timi had two break points, but she missed a backhand. And came the pure reality...Serena Williams hit three aces in a row, and she she broke Timi’s resistance.

In the last three games the World No1 shows her power, determination and ruthlessness. She hit winers and winners, in the last game she broke her rival to 0...

On Thursday Timi will began the Ladies’ Doubles event with Kristina Mladenovic. Last year’s finalists will meet Magda Linette and Mandy Minella in the opening round.
