Wimbledon 2015: a great victory and quarter-final in Ladies’ Doubles

The match lasted 1 hour 17 minutes. The 4th seed Hungarian-French pair will meet Hsieh Su-Wei and Flavia Pennetta in the last eight.

Timi and Mladenovic broke immediately at the beginning of the 43-minute first set, they lived with the fifth chance. Then they saved a break point, and led 2:0. Unfortunately, this advantage “gone” soon.

The 4th seed Hungarian-French double’s next opponent will be Hsieh Su-Wei and Flavia Pennetta. The Taiwanese-Italian duo is seeded 7th at Wimbledon.

The 29-year old Hsieh is ranked 23rd, her career best was 1 (12 May 2014). So far, she has won 17 WTA and 20 ITF event in this genre. She triumphed in 2013 at Wimbledon and WTA Finals, and in 2014 at the Roland Garros, all with Shuai Peng. Last year at Wimbledon Timi and Kiki Mladenovic won 4:6, 7:6, 6:2 against Hsieh and Peng in third round.

This year Hsieh was a semifinalist in Brisbane (Australia, 1 million USD, hard court, Co: Sania Mirza) and played a final in Doha (Qatar, 731,000 USD, hard court, Co: Mirza). Then Pennetta become her partner, they reached the qurter-final in Madrid (Spain, 4,185,405 EURO), in Rome (2,183,600 USD, clay) and at the Roland Garros.

The 33-year-old Pennetta is ranked 13th, her career best was also 1 (28 February 2011). So far, she has won 9 WTA and 17 ITF event in doubles. She was a finalist in three Grand Slam tournament: in 2011 she triumphed at the Australian Open with Gisela Dulko. She lost the last match at the US Open in 2005 with Elena Dementiewa and in 2014 with Martina Hingis.

On Monday late afternoon, it was found out that Timi and Alexander Peya will meet Olga Savchuk and Oliver Marach in the third round of the Mixed Doubles.
