Semifinal defeat in China

"Today the opponent was better, it's true. I struggled, but I did not play like the last few days. My serves became a little bit worse, my shots were not sharp enough to shock. Whatever I tried to do or change my strategy, my opponent always responded well. She played great, she gave good answers for everything. I am not discouraged, because it was a very, very good week! Riske began immediately with a break, and she took the control in the 34-minute opening set. She had a break point to a 3:0 lead, but without success. Unfortunately, at 2:1 she hold her service game from 15-40, then she won her opponent’s serve, after 40-15...

Timi came back with a break, but then couldn’t hold the important serve...Riske won the next game to 30, so she finished the opening act.

In the second set Timi came back from 0:2 to a 3:2 lead, it seemed, she could reverse the semifinal. But it was not the case later...

Riske equalized to 3:3, the she broke the opponent after a big fight. The US-player lived with the third chance, and then she hold that lead. At 5:4 she came back from 15-30, she won her service game and the semifinal.

Next week Timi will play doubles with Katerina Srebotnik at the 753 000 USD Apia International in Sydney. Then came the first Grand Slam-event of year, the Australian Open in Melbourne.
