Sydney: difficult match and victory in doubles

In the first 43-minute set Timi and Srebotnik broke the opponent twice, after 0:2 and it seemed, they took the control. But, they lost that break advantage immediately. In the sixth game the Canadian-Polish pair won the opponent’s service game to 40, lived with the third chance.

The fate of the set was decided after 5:5. Timi and her partner broke to 15, then they hold their service game to 30.

In the 48-minute second act the 4th seed double had a break advantage after 2:0, and 6:5. But the opponent came back and the tie-break decided. Dabrowski and Rosolska played succesfully, they won that “act” without losing a single rally...

In the final tie-break Timi and Srebotnik led 9-4, with two minibreaks. But then came the nightmare. The Canadian-Polish pair won six point in a row, and they served for the match. But Timi and Srebotnik fought back and they finally won that match.

The Hungarian-Slovenian duo's opponent in the quarter-final will be the pair of Raluca Olaru and Yaroslava Shvedova.

The 26-year old Romanian player is ranked 54th in doubles, her career best was 44 (28 September 2015). She has won 4 WTA and 15 ITF event. Last year, she was a Champion in Nuremberg (250 000 USD, clay, Co: Lara Arruabarrena) and Ilkley (England, 50 000 USD, grass, Co: Xu Yi-fan).

The 28-year old Svedova is ranked 6th, her career best was 4th position (6 June 2011). Throughout her career, she has won 12 WTA and 4 ITF event in doubles. She played in a final of 5 Grand Slam events, she remained unbeaten in 2010 at Wimbledon and Us Open, both times with Vania King. Last year she was a finalist with Casey Dellacqua at the Roland Garros and US Open. Shvedova was undefeated in Madrid (4 942 700 USD, clay, Co: Dellacqua) and Hong Kong (250 000 USD, hard court, Co: Alize Cornet).
