2016-01-29 - Timi finished the common starts with Katarina Sarebotnik, she will start with Julia Goerges (Dubai, Doha) and Yaroslava Shvedova (Indian Wells, Miami).

After the Australian Open the 22-year old Hungarian player prepare at home for the next important weeks. This year she was a semifinalist in singles in Shenzhen and reached the second round in Melbourne. Meanwhile, her partnership was not successful with Katarina Srebotnik, and they split. Timi will start with Julia Goerges (Dubai, Doha) and Yaroslava Shvedova (Indian Wells, Miami) is the next weeks.

- You played in the semifinal in China and you got to the second round at the Australian Open. How do you rate the beginning of the 2016 season, in singles?

- It was a positive start of the year after I successfully finished the last season as well. I am glad that I managed to keep a good shape! Mainly I am satisfied with my performance in Shenzhen, I think I had two very good matches, against Niculescu and Bouchard! In the opening round of the Australain Open I won against Watson after a big fight, I had enormous difficulties. I don’t want to say that I played well, but I struggled successfully. In the second round I had a very instructive match against Bencic. I played a little bit nervous, I have not played good tennis, I didn’t played well ... But that is why I said that I can learn a lot from this. I am happy that in the last two months I was able to move forward in the rankings, I improved thirty places. It is very positive!

- Did You managed to used to the tactical changes, which You prepared during the winter camp?

- I think I've managed to apply for it, on some level. There was a goal that We set for this period, for this tour. I think I've done at least eighty percent of these tasks. This is definitely good and positive! There are still some things that need to change: why I train with a great enthusiasm. But you can see that things are working and they are useful in that we practiced a lot over the winter preparation. We must move forward on this road.

- What will be the crucial point for the future improvement in singles in coming weeks?

- As I said in my previous answer, I think we are on a good track! The tactical, technical and mental changes, that We practiced, are working well. This must be the way to proceed. I think, that the key is: I must trust Myself and play positively. In recent tournaments I had a big step forward in my attitude and body language. The positive thinking helped Me through difficult moments. But obviously there is always something to be improved. Good thing that there are tasks to do and I had goals, for I want to train :)

- What is your program before the next tournament?

- In the next few days I will train in Hungary, with the help of my physio Josko Silic. My tennis coach, Thomas Drouet is absent, but I got the training program, so everything will be good. Gyuri Balázs will also helping Me on the court, and I played a lot with Réka Jani. At the beginning, I mainly focused on the physical preparation, because I want to keep My physique level. Obviously, during the tournaments We lost a little bit of this. N matter how much I pay attention to this, althought I train a lot in the gym. The other part is the technique. It also drops a bit during the matches, due to the stress. Obviously when I play the game and the point, I'm not thinking about the technique, I focused on the point, how I could win it.

- You underachieved in doubles with Katarina Srebotnik in the first two tournament of the year. Will there be a change?

- We finished the common start with Srebotnik. Our doubles did not work well. What does not work, you do not want to force. Our game do not pass up, and Katarina had a trouble, that we could not train together. Obviously I'm not concentrate on the doubles, when I am still competing in singles as well. The next few weeks I will start with different partners. Obviously it is not easy and not really good. But now the singles is more important! In Dubai and Doha I will play with Julia Goerges, and at Indian Wells and Miami I will start with Yaroslava Shvedova. Both are very good players! I could talk with players after We recognized, that our doubles didn’t work with Katarina Srebotnik. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to find a new partner during the year. Goerges had previously agreed witk Karolina Pliskova, they played well at the Australian Open, they reached the semifinal. Meanwhile, Shvedova agreeded to play in Dubai and Doha with Bethanie Mattek-Sands. So it'll have to change My partner after the second tournament. Otherwise, I am happy, because both are very good players. I think we can be successful.

The 27-year old Julia Goerges is ranked 25th in doubles, she was a semifinalist with Karolina Pliskova at the Australian Open. Her career best position was 20 (26 August 2013) in this genre. So far, she has won 5 WTA and 6 ITF event in doubles. Last year she was a semifinalist with Anna-Lena Groenefeld at the Australian Open, and she reached the quarter-final at Wimbledon (2010, 2013, 2014) and US Open (2012).

The 28-year old Yaroslava Svedova is ranked 6th in the world rankings, her career best was 4th (6 June 2011). During her career, she has won 12 WTA and 4 ITF tournaments. She played in a total of five Grand Slam tournament final: in 2010, she remained undefeated at Wimbledon and at the US Open, both times Vania King was her partner. Last year, she lost in the final at Roland Garros and US Open, with Casey Dellacqua.

In the 2015 season the Kazakh player won in Madrid (Spain, 4 942 700 USD, clay, Co: Dellacqua) and Hong Kong (250 000 USD, hard court, Co: Alize Cornet).

In 2013 Timi and Shvedova won the Tashkent WTA event, without losing a set.
