Eventful match and victory in Russia

"It was an interesting game, I did not play very well ... I started playing with a wrong tactics. Despite the fact that we agreed with my coach. So, she led 5:2 with a double break. But I did not give up, I tried and I began to play better and better. In addition, I think my opponent is terrified of the possibility to win the set. Int he tie-break I was the much better player, and it was 7-0. I started well the second set, but my opponent was better, also. I broke her, but she managed to came back. Siniakova played an all-in-all basis, she "struck" everything. So it was hard end of the match. But at the most important moments she made mistakes. I'm happy with the win, because I did not play well, but I was able to fight. This is a good, valuable mental victory! Tomorrow I will be able to train and prepare for the next game” – said Timi.

The match lasted one hour and 50 minutes. The Hungarian player's next opponent will be the 9th seed Monica Niculescu.

Timi and Siniakova played an eventful and exciting match.

The 63-minute first set had two essentially different parts.

At the beginning of the meeting, both players saved a break point, and Timi led 2:1. Then Siniakova twice won her opponent’s service game, she jumped to a 5:2 lead. After that, she served two times for the opening set.

But Timi turned the game, she led 6:5, and 40-0 as a receiver. The young Csech player saved a total of four break points, so she equalized to 6:6.

In the tie-break Timi won four points as a receiver, and she was perfect behind her serves. So, she won that mini act to 7-0.

In the middle of the second set Timi broke her opponent, but Siniakova came back immediately (3:3). Few minutes later the Hungarian player broke again, this time to 30, then she won the next came also to 30, after 40-0.

Timi's next opponent will be the World No37 Monica Niculescu. Her career best was 28 (27 February 2012). So far, she has won 2 WTA and 18 ITF event in singles. This year she lost int he second round in Shenzhen, in Hobart and at the Australian Open.

So far Niculesco won three times against Timi, last time in 2015 at Eastbourne (7:5, 7:5). This year in Shenzhen the Hungarian player was the better, 6:1, 6:4.
