Indian Wells: Ukrainian opponent in singles

The 26-year old Curenko’s career best position was 33 (26 October 2015). During her career, she has won 1 WTA and 6 ITF tournament in singles.

We can not tell you that the Tsurenko is playing her best season...She played 3 matches at the WTA Tour and one game at the Australian Open, and she won only one set. But she also lost againt Varvara Lepchenko in Melbourne.

According to statistics of the ITF, she won three matches at the Fed Cup.

Last season Tsurenko reached the quarter-final at Indian Wells. In the maid draw she defeated Annika Beck (6:1, 6:3, then WTA-73), Andrea Petkovic (6:3, 4:6, 6:4, then WTA 10), Alize Cornet (7:5 , 1:6, 6:2, then WTA 24) and Eugenie Bouchard (6:7, 7:5, 6:4, then WTA-7). She lost against Jelena Jankovic at the last eight. Then, Tsurenko was undefeated at Istanbul (Turkey, 250 000 USD, hard court).

She was quarter-finalist in Toronto, Canada (2 513 000 USD, hard court), while she played in the semifinal in New Haven (United States, 731 000 USD, hard court), both times she started in the qualies.

At the end of the season the Ukrainian player was also a semifinalist in Moscow (Russia, 731 000 USD, carpet).

The two players have met twice: in 2012 in Cincinnati Timi won 6:2, 6:4, and in 2014 in Vancouver Tsurenko was the better, 6:3, 6:1.
