IW: Timi & Shvedova quarter-finalist in doubles

In the 39-minute opening set Timi and Shvedova broke the opponent after 2:1, so they led 3:1. Till, this point both pair saved a total of 3 break points.

Xu and Zheng came back after 4:2, they won the 3rd seed duo’s service game to 30. Fortunately, the Chinese pair stayed with the opponents only till 4:4.

Timi and her partner lost no rally in the ninth game, then broke the opponent to 15.

The second set also brought a lot of excitement and more turn!

Timi and Shvedova jumped to a 3:0 lead, but the opponent came back again. Xu and Zheng broke the rival after 3:1, then saved two break points.

Fortunately, the final period of the set was similar to the opening act. Timi and Slava Shvedova won their service game to 15, then led 40-30 as a receiver. The Hungarian-Kazakh pair lived with the second chance, so they advanced to the quarter-final.

Timi and Shvedova will meet Andreja Klepac and Katarina Srebotnik in the next round.

Klepac is ranked 29th, her career best position was 23 (11 January 2016). So far, she has won 4 WTA and 13 ITF tournament in this genre. This year she was a semifinalist in Brisbane (Australia, 1 000 000 USD, hard court, Co: Alla Kudryavtseva).

Srebotnik is ranked 17th, her career best position was 1 (4 July 2011). So far, she has won 36 WTA and 19 ITF event in doubles. During her career, she played in a total of 5 Grand Slam finals in Women’s Doubles: she triumphed in 2011 in Wimbledon with Kveta Peschke. In Mixed Doubles she was a finalist 11 times, she won 5 titles (1999: Roland Garros, Co: Piet Norval, 2003: US Open, Co: Bob Bryan, 2006: Roland Garros, Co: Nenad Zimonjic, 2010: Roland Garros, Co: Zimonjic, 2011: Australian Open, Co: Daniel Nestor).

Timi and Srebotnik started with together this season, but they split after two events.
