At the beginning of the 46-minute first set the Slovenian duo played much better, than the opponent. Klepac and Srebotnik jumped to a 4:1 lead. They lost no rally in the first and second service game, and they broke the 3rd seeds twice (to 15 and to 30). But then came the first turn-around!

Timi and Shvedova took the control, and they won four games in a row. They won the Slovenians two service game (to 0 and to 30). And after 5:4 they had a big chance. The Hungarian-Kazakh pair had two break and set points, but this time without success.

 

Klepac and Srebotnik saved the crucial service game, then they broke the rival to 40. And after 6:5 they hold their serve to 40, so they finished the opening act...

 

At the beginning of the 37-minute second set Klepac and Srebotnik lived with the chances and it seemed, they had a total control. They broke the opponent to 40 and to 15, they led 3:0. But came the next big turn-around.

 

Timi and Shvedova came back! They broke back twice, and few minutes later it was 4:4. And it was not the end.

 

The 3rd seed Hungarian-Kazakh duo easily won the next service game, and they led 5:4. In the next few minutes the Slovenians fought hard, but they lost the next serve to 40.

 

The tie-break was one-sided. Timi and Shvedova had an early break, and they controlled the match. After 5-2, they lost a rally behind the serve, but it was not an important “mistake”. Timi and her partner won five rallies in a row, they finished the quarter-final.

 

The Hungarian-Kazakh duo’s next opponent will be Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Coco Vandeweghe.

 

The 30-year old Mattek-Sands is ranked 7th, her career best position was 3 (August 17 2015). So far, she has won 17 WTA and 3 ITF women's doubles competition. Last year, she was the Champion with Lucie Safarova at the Australian Open and Roland Garros. In Mixed Doubles she celebrated in 2012 at the Australian Open, and last season at Roland Garros. She was a finalist at Wimbledon in the 2015 season.

 

The 24-year old Vandeweghe is ranked 39th, her career best was 37 (February 22 2016). So far, she has won 6 ITF events in Women’s Doubles.
